Keep Your Site Workers Warm in Winter with Portable Buildings

With snow on the Desert Road and skiers heading to the slopes, winter is well and truly here in the North Island. While the cold weather is great when you’re curled up by the fire, it can be a hard time of year for staff on temporary work sites, making quality, insulated portable buildings an absolute necessity. Here’s some tips on keeping your workers warm in winter. Hire a portable smoko room If you’ve got staff working outside in winter, offering them a warm and comfortable space to take a break is essential. This is where they can escape the…

As kiwis, we love helping kiwis thrive.

We’d like to say a big kiwi “Good On Ya” to our good friends at Project Kiwi! We’ve been helping them out along with a number of locals, by sitting on the hills in the dark and listening out for kiwi calls for their annual Kiwi Call Survey in the Coromandel area. The data is collated and assessed to determine what it means, and the implications for future practice to ensure the kiwi population in the Coromandel thrives. Some of the great results for the Kiwi Call Survey 2020 included: • One male kiwi recorded in the Waitaia Loop Track…

JustSheds 12x3m portable unit “pop-up” Café / Showroom

Just Sheds are even popping up as cafes!

As fans of great coffee, we were excited to help build a “pop-up” Café / Showroom for Aria Bay – a special boutique lifestyle retirement community development in Browns Bay, Auckland. Our client fitted the portable building out as a showroom, sales office and cafe, complete with a sunny deck and seating – and also made it open to the public. Supplied as a 12m x 3m unit with three windows and three bi-fold doors, it was a very heavy portable building – but we were proud to deliver and install it safely earlier this year.

Transforming portable buildings into COVID-19 testing stations.

Just days before the COVID-19 lockdown, we were approached and asked if we could help supply additional consulting rooms to a doctors surgery for urgent COVID-19 testing. As we’re aways keen to Do Good for our community, we contacted our suppliers and made arrangements for the urgent delivery of materials so we could construct and deliver our portable buildings for hire as testing stations to them at 7.30am on 23 March 2020, just before New Zealand went into full lockdown. The doctors were extremely grateful that we could supply them with two sparkling-clean brand new 6m x 3m offices with…

Going the extra mile

We’re really proud of Jake and Tom from the Just Sheds team… who went for “a bit of a swim” and swam from Motiti Island to Papamoa! In straight line that’s just over 9kms, but we think by the time they zig-zagged around the current it would have been closer to a 12km swim. Great stuff boys – just like your SLSNZ support crew and the team at Just Sheds – you’re always going the extra mile!

A tee-rific day of Olympic-sized fun

Our annual NZIOB Golf Day really was tee-rific “Olympic-sized” fun… even though we didn’t put on an Olympic performance. While it was a very hot day, we’re not blaming the heat for our scorecard… we had some hot competition on the course who deserved to beat us, but we did score some wine as our booby prize. Hopefully our fishing skills won’t be on a par with our golfing skills in the upcoming fishing competition…!

At Just Sheds, the show must always go on!

When you’re superstars like Queen and Adam Lambert… the show must go on! So we were proud to have set up the whole site for The Rhapsody Tour in only half a day – with all stage crew and site staff using our Just Sheds portable buildings for health & safety, crew mess rooms, lunchrooms, offices, changing rooms and communications. Queen and Adam Lambert rocked the stage, and we loved every minute of it!
